I won't whine . . . by Zyden I won't whine . . . by Zyden
New icon for those without a subby :iconnowhinersplz: ~nowhinersplz Stick it in your artist's comments and let people know it's ok to show their appreciation with a :+fav: when they're literally lost for words.

A :+fav: means different things to different people, and its revered or loathed by different artists. But DA has given people a choice: they can :+fav:. Or they can comment. Or they can do both. It’s all optional.

People do not need to justify why they are faving something.

Sometimes I’ll :+fav: and dash. But just to knock home the point, I comment a lot more than I fav. Why? Because to me the fav is the icing on the cake. I use it when something just can't get any better. That's what a fav means to me. To others, it means something different. Like a pat on the back or an approving nod. If the fav system was removed, would you receive more comments? From my experience, no you wouldn't. Favs let you know that people aren't just viewing your art and leaving, but viewing it and validating your effort. This is a good thing.

Sure, many artists want some constructive criticism, I know I do. But demanding it won’t get you anything of value. Don’t whine when someone gives you a :+fav: without a comment.

Now for the love of God, favbomb me already.

I need to remove this Burton from my favs. Cuz I'm starting to wish people would comment on my art. I do so few that I like that it makes me feel happy when people do comment. D:

I can't stand when I go to a friend's profile and see a comment saying "Thx 4 teh fav, but comment nex time" or even sometimes not even a thank you. Just a "Comment next time." If that ever happens to me I'll just AKSLDFJDLSFJADSFJFUCKYOU! *unfav* HOW'S THAT!?

Comments are nice but they aren't doing themselves any favors by whining like that! That tells me that person is going to want a comment for every fav, even when I have nothing to say or just don't have time. Why would I want to watch them?

:XD: Thank you for this stamp! Those whiners piss me off so much, you won't even believe!

I made a journal kind of ranting about this. I've been threatened and people have lashed out at me for not commenting, even if I have nothing to say. A fav from someone who actually likes the art is worth much more then a forced comment.

This stamp suits me well. English isn't my first language, and when I want to comment something, my mind suddenly go blank or I couldn't translate whatever I think about that deviation to English.

I agree. I know I personally don't want to leave a comment if I can't think of anything to say. Or if everyone else has already said everything I could say. I fav and run more than half the time, honestly.

I agree with basically everything here... definitely, the value of a fav depends on who gives it and what they usually fav. People who fav everything on the front page or fav-back for llamas? Eh, I'm not gonna pitch a fit, but I take those with a grain of salt. A fav from an artist I personally admire or an add to a really impressive collection? Hell yeah that makes my day. :D Thanks for the stamp, this is one of my favorites to have on my page.

Now now, don't get rude. They are not cheap cop-outs; it's an opinion, a way of thinking. You had your say, and I had mine. Let's not start mud flinging and arguing over who is more right than the other, hmm?

Fine, I won't degrade to fighting... But usually, people can discuss opinions and question them. It's tastes that don't hold a sense of right or wrong. There's a difference.
But whatever, I'll leave it there.

By the way, your condescending 'hmm' isn't going to help things. Try omitting that if you want to be taken a bit more seriously.

I honestly forget if I ever commented on this thing, but this is defiantly something I should comment on.
I completely agree with this stamp! It says just about everything I want to communicate to people in regards to favorites. I'd like to think I am very nit picky about what goes into my favorites, just look at it, I categorize everyone picture so I can easily look back at. This is proof enough that I don't fave and run in hopes of attracting attention.

Sometimes I don't comment simply because I have nothing else to say or add to the comment chain. Someone perhaps already said what I had in mind, or I don't want to post a generic "Good Job!."

:iconclapplz: And the stamp is very well made as well.

Dude I'm just happy to get a fave. In fact if my picture only has 20 and yet somehow has 10 faves, I think that ratio is pretty frickin amazing. That means that at least half the people who came to look liked it enough to notify me!
Where as there's other things in my gallery that have hundreds of views, barely any faves, and 64 comments. Which at first looks cool, but they you realize that you've had some long conversation with one person. or someone else has had some debate that has nothing to do with your artwork.
Faves count for each person that liked it, and that's it. You could even double your comment amount just by replying thanks to everyone so really, the comment counter isn't always as high as it says it is if a good majority are your own.

I love this stamp, it annoys me so much when they're like "Comment before you fav!" or something like that. It's like begging, and it makes me so sick I don't even want to fav it. Or I just fav without commenting and go ":icontrollfaceplz: Deal with it."

Plus, I don't know what they expect me to say. I'm so shy it's not even funny, and sometimes things are so great you're speechless. Sure, I'd like for people to comment. But I'm not going to beg them to comment or check out my gallery. Or demand it, because that disgusts me even more and it just makes the art seem bad, to me at least.

...I'm even scared about adding this comment D;

There's nothing I hate more than when I'm going through an artist's gallery and I really like their art, and I'm faving away without commenting (because I'm stupidly shy and most of the time do not know what to say or, yes, someone already said it) and then I come across a comment in their artist comments box like "For those of you lazy arses who fav and don't comment . . ." and I just stop and have to leave. :/

It really disappoints me when artists act like spoiled ingrates who think we're all supposed to worship them with the same crap (Kawaii! you're awesome! shall I lick your balls?) on EVERY SINGLE THING THEY DO.

I am always grateful for what I can get. I barely get favs or comments, so I don't bitch when someone favs and runs. I just take it as a compliment and move on.

(oh, and I'm gonna put the icon version in my journal -- lol)

Win.
Generally, if I can't leave a constructive comment that's at least two or three sentences long (or at least witty or something), then I'm not going to comment. I feel stupid leaving only an 'Awesome work!' or some such generic statement. And sometimes that's all I can come up with.

And I do tend to fave a lot, but that's only because I see so many shiny pictures, and I tend to be mesmerized by that. I like to collect nice art and browse through it on occasion, and THEN sometimes I can think of something useful to say.

Awesome stamp! I'm glad to see someone who can be reasonable about things. People get so touchy on this site sometimes.

I agree with this whole-heartedly. I have been in and know of situations when and where commenting just is not possible, even if you wanted to. =\

To me, a fave says that 'hey, they at least liked what I have created'. However, as happy as even getting one makes me, I don't go cluttering their front page thanking them for it. I have seen a lot of Deviants who dislike that as of late.

Pardon my rambling, getting to the point, this stamp is a definite favorite and thank you for making it as well as the icon. :)
