New icon for those without a subby :iconnowhinersplz: ~nowhinersplz Stick it in your artist's comments and let people know it's ok to show their appreciation with a :+fav: when they're literally lost for words.

A :+fav: means different things to different people, and its revered or loathed by different artists. But DA has given people a choice: they can :+fav:. Or they can comment. Or they can do both. It’s all optional.

People do not need to justify why they are faving something.

Sometimes I’ll :+fav: and dash. But just to knock home the point, I comment a lot more than I fav. Why? Because to me the fav is the icing on the cake. I use it when something just can't get any better. That's what a fav means to me. To others, it means something different. Like a pat on the back or an approving nod. If the fav system was removed, would you receive more comments? From my experience, no you wouldn't. Favs let you know that people aren't just viewing your art and leaving, but viewing it and validating your effort. This is a good thing.

Sure, many artists want some constructive criticism, I know I do. But demanding it won’t get you anything of value. Don’t whine when someone gives you a :+fav: without a comment.

Now for the love of God, favbomb me already.

Sorry, but the justification that they're not lazy is complete bullshit... I've easily shot down every argument: [link]
Also, it's spelt 'umpteen'.

You are allowed to have your own feels on the topic. ;)

Fair enough, but you still gotta realise that the reasons you gave are more like cheap cop outs for not commenting.

Now now, don't get rude. They are not cheap cop-outs; it's an opinion, a way of thinking. You had your say, and I had mine. Let's not start mud flinging and arguing over who is more right than the other, hmm?

Fine, I won't degrade to fighting... But usually, people can discuss opinions and question them. It's tastes that don't hold a sense of right or wrong. There's a difference.
But whatever, I'll leave it there.

By the way, your condescending 'hmm' isn't going to help things. Try omitting that if you want to be taken a bit more seriously.

the difference is a comment takes more time and is more......... valuable. I love to hear what people have to say about my art, and a favorite doesn't mean much... but idc too much....
